DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February
22, 2007) -- When looking for a new communications supplier,
officials from Grand-Am and the SunTrust MOTO-ST motorcycle
racing series did not have to look beyond the Daytona Beach area
to find SPEEDCOM Communications, which was today named the
"Official Communications Supplier" of Grand-Am and MOTO-ST.
SPEEDCOM, based in nearby DeLand, Fla., agreed to a
three-year contract to provide communications equipment and
service for Grand-Am and MOTO-ST and will hold the "Official
Communications Supplier" designation for both organizations
through the end of the 2009 racing seasons. SPEEDCOM will be
present in the paddock for all Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car
Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve and KONI
Challenge Series events, as well as all SunTrust MOTO-ST
events.
"It is extremely valuable to Grand-Am and MOTO-ST that we
could find a communications supplier so close to our home base
in Daytona Beach," said Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson.
"SPEEDCOM was already an active supplier to many of our Rolex
Series and KONI Challenge teams, and when the opportunity
became available for us to also do business with SPEEDCOM, it
proved to be a terrific fit. We've already gotten to know
SPEEDCOM quite well during our season-opening Rolex 24 At
Daytona and Fresh From Florida 200 season-opening events for
the Grand-Am series, as well as during our preseason test
sessions and we have been delighted with the company's
outstanding service."
SPEEDCOM will furnish Grand-Am and MOTO-ST officials with
all required communications equipment, including radios and
headsets. The company will also have personnel on location at
every event for trackside technical support.
"We are very excited to become the official communications
equipment supplier of Grand Am and MOTO-ST," said SPEEDCOM
Owner and President Toto Lassally. "We feel that with this new
alliance it will allow us provide superior service while
improving the communications equipment sector of our sport. We
look forward to working with each and every team throughout
the next three years."
