San Jose BMW Leads Road America 500K SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Race at the One-Hour Mark
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (July 8, 2007) --
One hour into today's three-hour Road America 500K SunTrust MOTO-ST Series race at Road America, the No. 46 San Jose BMW team held comfortable lead, built on the strength of a strong opening performance by lead team rider Brian Parriott of Calistoga, CA.
The BMW R1200 rider built an almost 30-second cushion on his closest pursuer, the No. 76 R&R Racing Aprilia Tuono 1000R of Dave Estok (New Smyrna, FL) and Darren James (Richmond, BC). The No. 6 Aprilia USA 2 Aprilia Tuono ran third.
In the GST class, the No. 8 Richie Morris Racing Buell XB12 of Shawn Higbee (Oconomowoc, WI) and Dan Bilansky (Waukesha, WI) had a considerable lead over the second-running No. 77 Touring Sport Ducati SS1000.
The No. 87 Speedwerks.com Suzuki SV650 of Scott Ryan (Lemont, IL) and Brian Kcraget (Danville, VA) led the ST class chase, one hour into the Road America 500K.
Following this weekend's race, the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series will head to Iowa for the Iowa Speedway 500k on July 12-13. The season concludes with the 8 Hours At Daytona Finale, October 19-20 at Daytona International Speedway.
